About the book:
Suddenly Super: A Twisted Tale by Jen Calonita is an exciting young adult superhero adventure inspired by Disney and Pixar's The Incredibles. Part of the popular A Twisted Tale series, the novel reimagines the original story through an intriguing question: What if Violet Parr became an agent of Syndrome?
Fourteen-year-old Violet Parr has spent her life following two important rules: keep her superpowers hidden and blend in with ordinary people. However, after accidentally revealing her abilities at a party, Violet finds herself grounded by her parents.
When Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl leave for a work trip, Violet expects her familiar neighbor, Mrs. Caruso, to babysit her and her younger brothers, Dash and Jack-Jack. Instead, a mysterious woman named Mirage arrives with shocking news about their parents.
Mirage claims that Violet's parents have been killed by the National Super Agency and insists that the children are in danger. She offers them protection through her powerful employer, Syndrome, who claims to be Mr. Incredible's greatest admirer.
Desperate to protect her brothers, Violet considers joining Syndrome's mission. But as she becomes involved in his plans, she begins questioning whether Mirage and Syndrome are telling the truth.
Blending superhero action, mystery, family relationships, courage, betrayal, and self-discovery, Suddenly Super explores the challenges of trusting others, embracing one's identity, and making difficult choices.
The novel is particularly suitable for readers who enjoy Disney retellings, young adult fantasy, superhero adventures, strong female protagonists, and imaginative alternative storylines
